This is a popular topic that comes up frequently. I will start off with it is not a salvational issue, but it is clear as day what the Lord says about it. Many people on both sides for or against it have their own "opinions", but let's stick to the facts and what the Word says about it. No more, no less.

1 Tim 5:23 - Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomachs sake and thine often infirmities.

(Red wine has been proven to help heal certain ailments.)

Ephesians 5:18 - And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess: but be filled with the Spirit.

Romans 13:13 - Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkeness, not in chambering and wontonness, not in strife and envying.

Romans 14:21 - It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor anything, whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

(Some folks believe ALL drinking is bad, even as mentioned in 1Tim5:23, even though we see we are told it is good in some instances to drink wine. But, some stumble because of their belief in no drinking. If that's the case be careful not to do something that causes them to feel they are sinning. Or, some maybe have a drinking problem. It wouldn't be smart to put temptation of alcohol that they cannot control in front of them, even though a glass of wine is fine, for them it could put them back into a situation they cannot handle. So we have to assess how our actions may cause another to stumble.)

Ecclesiates 9:7 - Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.

Psalm 104:14-15 - And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.

Proverbs 3:9-10 - Honor the Lord with thy substance and with the first fruits of all thine increase. So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

John 2:3-11 - And when they wanted wine the mother of Jesus saith unto him, they have no wine. 2:7-8 - Jesus saith unto them, fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And He saith unto them, draw out now, and bear unto the govenor of the feast. And they bare it.

Proverbs 31:6-7 - Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
